As a futher clarificaiton, the specific issue is the resulting package
builds, but is not installable:

 git-buildpackage depends on devscripts (>= 2.10.26); however:
  Version of devscripts on system is 2.10.11ubuntu5.

devscripts needs to be backported (unlikely to happen), or git-
buildpackage will need to be tweaked, and confirmed to work right with
the older devscripts.
