[Bug 234112] [NEW] does not start up anylonger

Hi,

Just updated my system to 8.04. Since restart it does not start anymore
and only stays stuck.

 Using the 8.04s 2.6.24-16 recovery mode the start-up gets always stuck at 
    [   25.993635] cs:  IO port probe 0xa00-0xaff: clean.       After that nothing happens anymore. In 8.04 2.6.24-14 recovery mode a lot of script runs over the prompt and I get a blue screen where I can fix something (things are really fast in that thing so I can not follow to read). After a short while, a lot of script over the prompt again, the usual ubuntu start page appears. I can get logged on there as usual.

This happens all the time I try to start up.

I am using a IBM X31 notebook

P.S. I am not any kind of pro or geek - a lot of the linux stuff goes
right over my head.
