The ABI/API between the 1.2.x and 1.9.x/2.x releases are not 100%
compatible, and the packaging helpers for Mono apps have also changed
since then. Unless someone from the mono team can assist in preparing
such a backport it is highly nontrivial and I don't feel comfortable
attempting it.
