[Bug 403114] [NEW] Please backport Awesome (the window manager) version 3.3.1-1 to 8.10

Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 8.10 currently only has 2.0.final-1, which is several years old.
There has been lots of new development. One area are the configuration
files which are easier to configure in the latest version. As the
configuration files have changed dramatically, as a new user of Awesome,
I'd like to start with the new format and modern version if it's
possible.

The version I want backported is 3.3.1-1, which is available in Karmic:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=awesome

I would immensely greatful if someone could backport this package. The
window manager is a crucial aspect of day to day work, and after having
tried Awesome a bit I'd like to take the leap and use it full time on my
Ubuntu system.
