[Bug 593625] [NEW] Please backport openldap server

Public bug reported:

I am in process to upgrade my server farm (6 servers!) from 8.04.3 LTS
to 10.04 LTS. In the process I'll also convert my slapd servers config
from slapd.conf to cn=config and set multimaster replication. This
worked when testing between two 10.04 machines(slapd 2.4.21-0ubuntu5),
but seems there is some bug on older versions (slapd
2.4.9-0ubuntu0.8.04.3) which makes replication work only from the newer
to the older, not the other way around. I could live with, but my actual
master slapd server will not be the first one to get the new Ubuntu
version, so I would break replication.

Since slapd is a core server, specially on enterprise, would be really
nice to have a safe upgrade path.
