python-smbc is now at version 1.0.10, but the version in the repositories is 1.0.6-0ubuntu3 for Lucid, 1.0.8-0ubuntu1 for Maverick and 1.0.8-0ubuntu2 for Natty. While 1.0.8 provides a very basic set of methods, 1.0.10 includes new methods that make application development much easier.

New in 1.0.10:

* smbc.NoSpaceError
* Now compiles against Python 3

New in 1.0.9:

* iteration file read
* rewrite tests for python nose
* fixed stat portability issue
* smbc.NoEntryError
* smbc.ExistsError
* smbc.NotEmptyError
* smbc.TimedOutError
* File.seek() and File.lseek()

iteration file read is especially important since it allows for creating
progress bars.
