In order to ensure a working upgrade path, backuppc would need to be
backported to both lucid and maverick.

I've uploaded test backports of backuppc for both lucid and maverick to
my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~broder/+archive/backports-tests). Please
verify that the build completes successfully, that the resulting
backported package can be installed, and that the package runs (or
trivial functionality works) for all target releases.

Additionally, backuppc has 1 reverse-dependencies in both lucid and maverick:
> mingo:~ evan$ schroot -c lucid-amd64 -- apt-cache rdepends backuppc
> backuppc
> Reverse Depends:
>   libio-dirent-perl
> mingo:~ evan$ schroot -c maverick-amd64 -- apt-cache rdepends backuppc
> backuppc
> Reverse Depends:
>   libio-dirent-perl

Please verify that all reverse-dependencies still work with the new
version of backuppc on all target releases.

Once the verification has been completed, you can change the status of
the bug to "Confirmed"
