I would like to add my desire for this too. The reason I want this is
for another feature missing which makes migration from a
likewise/powerbroker identity system much harder, and that is the
whitespace replacement configuration option. Under likewise/pbis, spaces
are typically replaced with ^, and these end up hard coded in scripts,
config files, and other places(not to mention it throws off rsync). sssd
added the option to replace whitespace with another character, but it
didn't get added until 1.11.7.
