I've had good results with this PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~openjdk-r/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

New JDK updates are made available relatively quickly even if it's
lagging a bit ATM. The JDK 8 update 66 entered Wily on Sept 13th so it
shouldn't be too long before it reaches the PPA.
