Just delete the configuration folder in your home folder and you have a
*fresh* install of that application.

Your setting are never lost in Linux unless

1. you completely remove the application, if you only remove the application
the settings for that application will stay in you user folder.

2. you delete your user folder.

User settings are completely separated from Application.
