In synaptic, you can find Edit > Mark Packages by task. In the new
dialog, select LAMP server. Click OK and Apply. All required software
will be installed. Apache will be running. You start or stop apache
from System > Administration > Services. For command line, run

sudo /etc/init.d/apache restart

/var/www/ is your htdocs folder.
