Note KDE 4.2 final release isn't yet available for kubuntu. still going with
kde 4.2 rc2 (at least according to kubuntu.org )

I installed kde 4.2 rc2 over last two days...

Used for few hours and I think I'm ready to give my opinion on this
rc2.........

first few of the Good Things:

a) Finally can set the Panel to autohide.... THANK YOU :)

b) few of the times when plasma crashed (while trying to resize the panel)
it recovered wonderfully, without any data or application loss.

c) adding few new widgets (like system monitor/ network monitor etc)

d) the default theme looks good (its blue (not the kde 3.5 one though))

e) New kernel

now the handful of problems

a) First look I was really really upset with the Login screen/Login
splash/wallpaper.. what the hell is that?? compared to kde 4 those looks
really cheap stuff..

b) the default Icon is too big... the panel icon is too big to my taste.. No
option to change the panel icon size :( thus can't shrink the panel size...

c) even though it includes a number of Widgets most of them does not work at
all (including twitter Microblogging WHY WHY :(( ), then in few widgets
setting are not preserved...

d) few of the packages still runs on kde 3.5 (like default
amarok/konversation)

e) dolphin is hiding my file/folder name list (I need to click at the
beginning to show the name list (it was working at first then went south)

f) dolphin isn't applying my setting change immediately, requires restart
(not the system only the dolphin) to take effect

I can keep going on on the shortcoming it has..... I am really
disappointed.... What was those "Hype" about kde 4.2???
I think moving to kde 4.2 is the worst thing I did in this whole week.....
total waste of time...

Perhaps because its RC2? hopefully final release is much better???

Only time will "Answer" that
