[Ubuntu-BD] Folders are appearing on desktop

Hello all,
I'm using Ubuntu 9.04.My problem is,Whenever I'm creating a folder/file
in my home folder,it also appears on my desktop.If I delete that from
desktop,it got deleted from home folder also.I don't know what to do
next.But one thing I do know is that I don't want folders to show up on
desktop.So please tell me a way to solve this problem.
