[Ubuntu-BD] I need urgent suggestion

Dear all,
            Today I have installed Ubuntu 9.10. And I have started to face
various types of problem.
I use USB Modem for using internet through gp connection. After some steps I
am able to make connection with the internet, but the Browser of ubuntu
doesn't work at all. what is the solution of this problem?
Another one is, i am not able to hear any sound from it.
What can I do, plz suggest me quickly. Really  I am feeling very discomfort
with Windows.
