Greetings!
After following all the activity on this mailling list for a couple of
days (it's great for short study breaks :)) I thought I should introduce
myself ...
My name is Bernard, and I've been using Ubuntu since april 2005. I
actually tried installing Gentoo before that but found it a bit too
complicated so after some googling around I discovered Ubuntu and now
I'm addicted to it (well not really, but sort of speak, everybody knows
what I'm talking about right?).
As being a student I especially like the fact that you can get a lot of
really good software for the fantastic price of €0. At the moment I
still have a dual-boot with Windows but I hope to be able to replace it
completly with linux once I find good alternatives to some of the
programs I have to use alot.
I set up a contact point in Leuven where I spend the most of my days
studying new ways to torture micro-organisms :) (I study
Bio-Ingenieurswetenschappen). I allready converted about 3 or 4 of more
friends to linux so I think I'm quite capable at convincing people to
turn over to the friendly side of open-source software :).
I consider myself to be an experienced user, not only on the desktop,
but also on the server. Since I started using I learned a great deal of
things about linux and Ubuntu (I even administer a Gentoo server now,
but gonna change it to Debian this summer I think, easier to maintain).
Anyway, I think that's all I need to write (don't know anything else to
say :)). You can contact me via mail on
bernard.siebens at student.kuleuven.be or watcher at landbouwkring.be.
Bernard
