I'm pretty sure Dell pays Microsoft less than 50 euro for their OEM
licenses (or at least, not much more), but for PCs that they sell
without Windows installed, they also lose the money they get for
installing trial versions of anti-virus programs and other useless
crap...

If you add to that the fact that they have to make a special exception
in their normal "production chain" for those 0,x% who want this, it's
actually not that strange *from an economic point of view* that they
"only" offer a 50 euro discount...


This is different for smaller computer equipment suppliers (e.g. I paid
> 100 euro less than when I would have wanted Windows on my laptop).
