IRC meeting 16/09/2010 – Report
Present at the meeting (in random order) : nero_, JanC, Clamam,
massimo21, warddr, Jean7491

1. Past and future events - September 2010
  a. Dipro fair 12/09 Antwerp - report
It was a long busy day till +/- 16,00 hr., visitors were very interested
in our booth. 5 volunteers were sometimes not enough to answer questions
and contact visitors. It was a successful event !

  b. Software Freedom Day (18/9) -
http://wiki.softwarefreedomday.org/FrontPage
Information session is planned in Ostend, in cooperation with
Zandletters.be. Unfortunately the team reduces from 3 to 2 volunteers,
not enough for 3 simultaneous workshops! JanC will help in Ostend and
Frank in the afternoon.

This is the only Software Freedom Day 2010 activity announced in Belgium.

  c. Dipro fair 19/09 Charleroi
Team coordinated by Adrien and in cooperation with local LUG's. sarawa
is willing to help.

  d. Nielse Computer Dag (26/09) in cooperation with local computerclub
Monitor.
Team includes 4 volunteers, coordination by nero. Additional volunteers
are still welcome.

  e. Dipro fair 26/09 Hasselt: team is ready and preparation going on.
Additional volunteers are still welcome.

2. Promotion
  a. Adding (commercial and non-commercial) links to the website
See detail/draft in the wiki
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/Website/Commercial_links-draft. JanC
is working for an email address "contact op ubuntu-be.org", as single point
of entry/contact between companies and Ubuntu-be. As soon as the address
is ready and tested, information and procedure will be posted in the
mailing list and can be relayed through personal contacts. Hopefully in
a few days.

  b. t-shirts for Ubuntu-be (warddr is leading the project)
New design proposals received in
http://forum.ubuntu-nl.org/artwork/wedstrijd-ontwerp-de-beste-ubuntu-t-shirt/

See special (new) page
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/PromotionMaterial/ProposalsT-shirts.
Remember: the design has to respect Canonical guidelines about the use
of Ubuntu logos
(http://design.canonical.com/the-toolkit/ubuntu-brand-guidelines/).

Timing: proposals can be sent till 22/09. During the next IRC meeting
23/09, we wil select a few design as preselection. Final decision at the
IRC meeting on 30/09. We should start with 100 t-shirts (as previously
agreed), and with pre-sale action (when final design is decided).
Procedure? Through a wiki page or email to a coordinator, but no
pre-payement, as too complicated. Eventual porto-cost for pre-sale can
be included in the price. warddr could be in charge of the management of
the stock t-shirts and following the sale of t-shirts and transfert of
money to Ubuntu-be (TBC). warddr will contact Guy for details about BTW.

  c. Ubuntu and Facebook ?
Not everybody is happy with, but it is a fact and we should take it in
account and use the existing Facebook page Ubuntu-be. Before to use it,
we should agree with the owner of the page about its administration. No
contact yet with the owner and no reaction in the mailing list to the
last report ! Clamam will lead a Facebook team in charge of the page.
Interested people in cooperating on this Facebook issue will be welcome
in the team : please apply through IRC meeting or mailing list.

  d. Ubuntu and Education
A lot of things are related to Education: contacts with PCVO's a.o.,
promotion in schools, "Introductiesessie", "buurthuizen", what can we
propose to schools ?, “ICTpraktijkdag”. Only 1 reaction to the previous
report.
We need an “Education-team” : someone should take initiative to start a
discussion group (what can be done in this matter ?).

3. Update Wiki Belgian Team: Facebook Team has be added in wiki
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/Responsibility.

4. Support points map status : mongolito should start saturday with
import of data's about support points, let's hope the problem will find
a solution, no further info.

5. Next IRC meeting on 23/09/2010 at 21 h.
