There are other errors in syslog: 
Feb 23 14:46:09 sky-desktop kernel: [  185.097149] Valid eCryptfs headers not found in file header region or xattr region
Feb 23 14:46:09 sky-desktop kernel: [  185.097159] Either the lower file is not in a valid eCryptfs format, or the key could not be retrieved. Plaintext passthrough mode is not enabled; returning -EIO


I think this might be due to an issue in ecryptfs triggered when the file is received.

The best thing to do would be to test this on 12.04 using a LiveCD and
see if the issue can be reproduced there.
