[Ubuntu-BR] Limewire 4.9 FATAL ERROR! no Ubuntu 5.10

Estou tentando instalar o Limewire 4.9 no Ubuntu 5.10 e não estou sendo
feliz :-(
Segui passo a passo as instruções apresentadas no Ubuntu 5.10 Starter
Guide <cid:part1.09050008.08090903 em Lages.net> disponível no menu Sistema
> Ajuda do Gnome 2.12 tanto para instalação do Java da Sun (seção
Aplicações > Java > Questão 1) como para o Limewire (seção Aplicações >
Internet > Questão 4).

Bem, logo ao iniciar na fase de carregamento de módulos (componentes
principais), o Limewire acusa Fatal Error e congela a inicialização. O
texto apresentado sugere uma instalação corrompida e novo baixa do site
e reinstalação. Já fiz isso diversas vezes e o erro continua. Clicando
em Review são apresentadas as mensagens abaixo:

Something went wrong with LimeWire.
Maybe you're using the wrong version of Java?
(LimeWire is tested against and works best with with Sun's JRE, Java 1.4+)
The version of Java in your PATH is:
java version "1.5.0_05"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_05-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_05-b05, mixed mode, sharing)

Somente após optar em Discard o programa se encerra. A indicação de
estar numa versão errada do Java não procede pois estou usando a 1.5.0
Update 5, a mais recente disponível na Sun.

Alguém tem alguma sugestão do que pode estar causando isso?

Em tempo (off-topic)... sou da organização do 3º SOLISC e 6º OpenBeach
em Floripa (ver na assinatura). Alguém da Comunidade Ubuntu estará
presente nesses eventos? Gostaria de conhecê-lo(a)s. Sabem que existe um
espaço comunitário previsto durante o SOLISC? Tenho alguns CDs do 5.04.
Que tal um point?
