[Ubuntu-BR] arquivos .mid

Instalei o pmidi mas não consigo ouvir os arquivos .mid. Veja abaixo as mensagens:
(meu ambiente é ubuntu dapper)

paim em hall:~/violao/sons$ pmidi dorico.mid

paim em hall:~/violao/sons$ pmidi -l
Could not open sequencer No such file or directory

root em hall:/home/paim/violao/sons#

Como resolver? O que é sugerido para se ouvir arquivos .mid
