[Bug 97312] "Cannot open SCSI driver!" while attempting to blank a cdrw (feisty beta)

Problem arose when using gnomebaker or k3b to blank a CD

I attempted to blank a full CD-RW. I couldn't with the updated feisty beta. I had no problems with previous versions of ubuntu. Tried with 2 different rewritable CD's: the same effect. 
I could blank that cd as usual on k3b on another machine (running another linux OS :-/ ).
The text displayed by both CD-managers are:
