Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: brasero
Ubuntu Hardy Beta (updated daily) on AMD64.
1. Inserted a movie DVD into my CD/DVD drive-burner (or whatever they are called these days - ROM -doesn't seem to fit)
2. Closed automatically opened Totem and started Brasero
3. Made a copy to a file image successfully
4. Opened the CD/DVD drive and took the original DVD out
5. In Brasero (with the DVD out) clicked on the project which opened the project dialog (Burn button was grayed-out, of course with no DVD in)
6. (while the project dialog ((or whatever it is called in GTK)) was still opened) Put a blank DVD in the CD/DVD and it crashed.
All in all it seems that the Brasero project dialog (and its logic) could not cope with the fact that the state of the CD/DVD drive has changed.
Brasero crashed again after I successfully burned a copy of the file image and clicked on the [x] button to close it while the CD/DVD try was opened.
Another hint/coincidence it that Totem crashed in the same situation.
Just did some tests - it doesn't happen with an existing project, that
is, it doesn't happen if I do not copy or burn - no matter how I play
with the CD/DVD try + Brasero project dialog.
Did more tests - could not reproduce the problem.
The only thing I could think off where the problem might be is that by accident I managed to click the cancel button, on the Brasero project dialog, at exactly the time (hypothetically) when some CD/DVD media initialization/detection was somehow vulnerable.
