You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Using Hardy 8.0.4.1 64bit Desktop - kernel 2.6.24-19-generic.
PC has two DVD/CD drives, one is SATA, the other PATA/IDE. I've recently downloaded the new Intrepid ISOs for Ubuntu and Kubuntu and burnt them to CD.
Blank CDs in drive. The first time I burnt a CD by clicking on the ISO file (saved to desktop) and selected write to disk. The burn speed options were from 56.4x to 1.0x, so I selected 1.0x (similar to Disk speed2.png attached). The second CD displayed the disk speeds (shown in Disk speed2.png) but did not allow anything slower than 18.8x to be selected. The ISOs were moved to my /home directory.
In both cases the same PATA drive was used. If I select the ISOs from my home directory I get the options to burn CDs at 56.4x to 18.8x and DVDs at 6.2x to 2.0x every time.

** Affects: nautilus-cd-burner (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
