I also have this problem with Intrepid.  This doesn't happen on every single folder with mp3s. When I launch brasero with -g, it seems that it hangs on this:
 Already ongoing search for file:///home/jelofson/mythtv/music/somefile.mp3 
once I have browsed to that the folder.

This doesn't happen when browsing as a data project.

I had some m4a files and it didn't hang for me on them.
