Problem Connecting via a Modem

Hello:


	I am new to Linux, but I am impressed with the Ubuntu Distro. I am hoping to Kiss 
Bill and his XP System Goodbye Forever. I have been experimenting with the LiveCD. 
Unfortunately, I can not connect to the Net via my Modem. 

	I went into the System/Admin/Networking area of Gnome to try to configure my 
Modem, but it does not locate my Modem when it attempts AutoDetection.

	Any Suggestions ?
