printers

I have to deal with quit a lot of printer since i'm working at 9
different school.

I did not notice the problem at once since I basicly copied my
printers.conf file from my fedora machine.

When I add a printer using the GUI, I have no chance to rename it.  This
is very confusing after the 4th laserjet 4050.

So, my question is, how do I specify a "freindly" printer name?

If I play with the printers.conf file manually, Ubuntu get confused, I'm
loosing all the printers properties buttons once I get back in the GUI.

So, what should I do?
