As in, people pay to attend: not that I'm paid (I wouldn't mind, but
not necessary).

CLUEcan.ca has an RSS feed, and I blog on that site. I also blog on
digital-copyright.ca. I generate too much volume, and don't want to
flood the CLUEcan.ca site, which is why I also blog elsewhere on this topic.
At to IRCan and ITERation, the push is to have this fully documented
on the Treasury Board website itself. This is the logical place for
things to be. They are getting pretty close to when that would be a
reality, and I'll obviously be blogging about it on the CLUEcan.ca site
when that happens.

While what is happening in TBS/etc is exciting from a use
perspective, it is quite possible that a new Copyright bill will have
been tabled by the time this gets organized. It may be useful to make
this the focus.
If you want background on where this "copyright" stuff is coming
from, check out the following article for the background. This has been
a decade and a half long policy battle.

I expect that Ubuntu users would:
a) like to have their freedom to make their own choices about what
software is installed on their own hardware.
b) like to disallow "copyright holders" or "device manufacturers"
from imposing software choices on us.
This is really the core of what the changes are about, and why we
need to fight back hard (and get as many people as possible to sign the
two petition, write letters to their MPs, etc, etc...)
