Hi,

There was a thread going here on someone with a resolution/font problem,
but I seem to have deleted the previous emails.

Anyway, this is a bit of long-shot, but I thought I would mention that I
got an older lap-top looking much better than the default configuration
by editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf (as root, and please back up the file
first :-) and in the section
  Section "Screen"
I changed
  DefaultDepth  24
to
  DefaultDepth  16

If this helps, then great, otherwise just hit the 'Del' key  :-)
