I think they've based it upon a painfully similar logo for
Microsoft's MSN Spaces
(http://groups.msn.com/Editorial/en-ca/Images/pc2_spaces2.jpg)
, and use that theme throughout their various networks. 
Perhaps we should switch the Ubuntu logo to a dead butterfly
and see if Microsoft follows suit?
