Interesting - my sole HD is SATA, has been since Breezy, and I've
never had any issues, including during my upgrade from Edgy to Feisty
last week. I upgraded in place, though. Is this only a problem on
initial installation/re-installation?

-------------------
No this is a kernel issue, the system will simply not start. If you happened to know the particular module you need and it happened to reside on your computer during install, you can try and load it using modprobe when the system dumps you into the tinylinux boot loader. I tried loading as many of the sata modules as I could find on the system to no avail. Something either was left out in the new builds or ...shrug. myself and my co-worker who use ubuntu as a primary os for a number of servers have decided that we are going to wait until this problem gets fixed.
The only way they are going to be able to fix it, is to release a new set of ISO's to fix the problem.
