Feisty screen resolution problem

I tried auto915Resolution at
http://roland-lopez.blogspot.com/2007/03/auto915resolution-ubuntu-resolution-fix.html
and another page (I forget the address) that gives directions for
Xorg.conffile tweaking.  The video card on my computer is Intel 945.
(Screen
resolution for  Windows is 1280 x 800 and that is okay so I would expect
that is what I want in Ubuntu as well.)
As a consequence of all the tweaking around I've been doing, my mouse now
jumps all over the place.  I don't want to reload Feisty because I managed
to establish an Internet connection and I'm not sure that I could do it
again.  (Yes, I'm green.)
