dvd and media players

howdy and this is for linux users

have had problems with three media players now, have installed VLC
Viewer, Kaffeine and gxine and still cannot play dvd's...

on the bright side, i do have one of my ipod shuffles working ok, the
second one needs formatting or something, as it says it has 230+ mb of
files, yet cannot find them, so still searching for the clue to that
one, if any suggestions, send them if you can please :):)

also, i have this benq mp3 player, my first real mp3 player.. it quit
working when using win xp, no matter what i tried then, the win xp would
not recognize the player, some usb issue, but, with ubuntu, it seems to
be ok... so that is a plus....

also, i installed a firewall and panda virus thing, but, they cannot be
found from the applications menu, so, any ideas on where they went and
how to be able to start them programs? i figured the firewall and that
was built in, but no, so, i did install them and dunno where to launch
them from.....

other than that, this computer seems really ok now... sure could have
used a decent guide to get it all going initially, hmm, might be a
project for my future ideas, of course, provided i have time, what with
all this tweakin and stuff, lol....

thanks for puttin up with my wild mood side
Brian
