Perhaps it is time for a brute-force search. Open a terminal and try
this at the command-line:
cd ; find . -iname "*default*" |grep -i thunderbird |less
If that produces no results then try a broader search:
cd ; find . -iname "*default*" |less
Does this output contain any relevant search results?
