Laptop Installation Troubles

My turn to ask for advice!

I've installed Edgy on a number of computers, and using the same CD, I've
been having trouble installing on my laptop (Sharp tn10w).  The first time I
tried, the LiveCD installer worked until the partitioning screen, and then
it froze (entirely - Alt+F2, nothing).  I tried again with the "noapic
nolapic" boot options, and this time the installation proceeded flawlessly
until it just stopped at 73%.  I'd really rather not download + burn the
alternate install CD - does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks,
