I have to agree with Tony. However filtering based on To: and Cc:
for mailing lists is not entirely accurate.
Since you use Thunderbird, you can use filtering to detect the
standard mailman mail headers. I usually have the filter act on this one:
List-Id: The Canadian Ubuntu Users Community <ubuntu-ca.lists.ubuntu.com>
To do that
1. Go to Tools > Message Filters > New
2. From there you will see a list of field to use for filtering
(Subject, To, etc.). The last one is "Customize". Click on it.
3. In "New message header:" input List-Id then click "Add".
4. Create a new filtering rule using the new custom field.
