newbie query

hi Don

thanks for the advice and links, Synaptic seems easy way to go to
install missing files..... and on the voice chatware... any suggestions?
most of my contacts are on yahoo or msn.....

also... i have a printer, scanner and camera to get hooked up
is there any of them 'wizards' or programs to do all that auto stuff
that windows is famous for?  i tried the plug in camera to usb, and
nothing worked... so will be researching that still
