Hi:

Some update packages in Ubuntu in the past had some problems. You do an
Install from a 6.10 CD Install disk. Then in Synaptic you click on add
CD. Then put a DVD in. It reads the DVD, and then asks you for a name.
You repat this process for each DVD, giving them different names. Then
when you want to install something from the DVD's go into ADD/Remove or
Synaptic choose the software you want, and when you hit apply, without
an Internet Connection. It will tell you what DVD Name to put into your
DVD Drive. If more than one DVD is required, it will eject the DVD, and
tell you which other dvd's to put in.

It's quite simple, and much faster than High Speed Download. You can
install about 3-600 Megs of software in about 10 minutes!
