and download and install the A11 bios update if it is not already on the
machine.  The other thing that you may want to try is burning a new live CD
or dvd and trying that.  Otherwise try one of the alternate Ubuntu distros
and that may work.

One other thing you can try is to see if a Win XP or one of the bootable
Windows cd's works in the drive.  IF that does not work the CD drive may be
bad.
