I recently bought a demo HP Laserjet 2550L from The Source for
169.99because I knew of HP's great Linux support. Unfortunately, the
printer had a
few issues, so had to be returned and I am currently waiting for it's
replacement to arrive from Fredericton. When I returned it , I was
initially going to get my money back and got to Staples and get the HP
Laserjet 1600 that they have on for 199.99 as it is a smaller, newer printer
and not a demo. Luckily, I checked linuxprinting.org first. The 1600 is not
fully supported yet and when I asked on Launchpad was told that it would be
added to HPLIP in the very near future. This was just last week. Currently
it can print black only using another opensource driver under Gutsy.
