There are a couple of ways. With the exception of RealPlayer, all the
gstreamer stuff in the repos (-bad,
-bad-multiverse,-ugly,-ugly-multiverse,-ffmpeg,fluendo-mp3, etc.) will
do what you need.

For dvds, you will need gxine.
