Googling for:
ubuntu "command line"

will give lots of hits. Try to find links that point to how-tos or
tutorials (some links point to other users having problems.)

Finally, if you are having problems running a program from the command
line (and does, in fact, run from the command line), you should peruse
the man page for that program. Type:

man program-name (for example, if there is a problem with the ls
command, you would enter man ls)

and read what the man page has to say about that program.
