Gutsy under VMware Fusion on a new Intel Mac

I've run Ubuntu 7.04 in a Mac (Panther) under Parallels. It was working fine
with absolutely no issues. On my main PC, I run Ubuntu 7.04 but I've
upgraded to 7.10. I have VMWare Server and a copy of Ubuntu 7.10 (for
testing) and a copy of Fedora 7. I haven't run into any problems with any of
the applications. In VMWare, the tools won't install for Ubuntu, but they
installed for Fedora so mouse movements inside the virtual machine and in
the host OS are seamless. With Ubuntu, I have to ctrl+alt to get out of the
guest machine.

One problem that I had with the upgrade to Gutsy is that I lost sound.
Fortunately, a few other users had already run into this problem and there
was a solution on the net. I haven't tested my wireless yet. In Feisty I
would experience spurious disconnects. Hopefully this has been fixed and the
wireless tools are much better.

How come it took so long to upgrade? What's your connection speed like? I
upgraded in about 1 hour. I was able to download the CD and burn it.

I'm glad that you're happy with the upgrade.

Andrew.
