about WINE ... and...

Hi:

I downloaded my wine from there. I'm using an Nvivia 6200 AGP card, and
the lowest Resolution and Video settings are from that. I tried Virtual
Box with 7.10 as the Host and Win98SE as the Guest. Once installed it
does not see the CDROM or DVD DRIVE, So I can put in the Guest App
Drivers for windows. A fellow in town Loaded Windows XP as the Guest in
7.10, and it sees his CDROM and Burner DVD drive. I'll play with it some
more in the next few days. Once he put in the Virtual drivers for
Windows, every thing started to work perfectly, and a bit faster than,
before.

Alfred!

Hello Afred,

if you go to http://www.winehq.org/ and check the download section for
upgrading to the latest version, as Ubuntu 7.10 doesn't have it and yes
indeed... the text is weird on the original install, the update version
works way better !!

for everybody else... thanks for the info :)

Ptrick --> thanks... will be looking forward to it !!

Hi Tried Wine on Ubuntu 7.10, but it runs in a very small
        window, and
the apps i wanted to run, the fonts in them were so small, i
        installed
Winders on another hard Drive to run them.

Then we played with VirtualBox. I put Win98se in it, it
        installed OK,
and run, but after the install, we could not install any
        programs,
because the Shared Folder, and USB ports would not work in the
        Virtual
Box. It's only a year old now, and give it some time, it might
        get
        working very well.

I've not used Cedega, or Cross-Office, but these might run some
        u-soft
        apps.

        Alfred!
