Two New Openings, Possibility of Remote Employment.
Bridges Human Resources is presently screening Candidates for the following
two openings;
1
Project Manager for MIDs and NetBooks (custom engineering)
Reports to: General Manager for MIDs
Job Location: Lexington, MA; USA (STRONGLY PREFERRED, but not required)
Job Summary: This role will provide day to day project management for
identified projects acting as the liaison between Canonical's engineering
teams and Canonical's custom engineering clients. You will be required to
create, manage, and maintain client specific project schedules. You will be
responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously.
You will be responsible for identifying and making known to relevant parties
work items that were not initially part of the contract, SoW or similar
business document between Canonical and their custom engineering clients.
Finally, this role is responsible for managing the project through its
life-cycle and ensuring that the overall goals of both Canonical and the
client are met.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
• Support business development and the engineering teams by estimating the
work items required to meet customer project requirements
• Draft and maintain project specific schedules / project plans
• Obtain client agreement to the project schedule and agreed to work items
• Conduct weekly status meetings with customers for assigned custom
engineering projects. Customer status meetings will take the form of
teleconferences and at times face to face meetings
• Conduct internal status meetings
• As needed, maintain daily communication with the client via email, shared
Wikis and other means
• As needed, manage the delivery schedule of critical third party
deliverables for the project
• Identify to engineering, business development, and management work items
requested by Canonical's custom engineering customers that are not part of
an existing contract, SoW or similar business documents
• Managing assigned projects through their life-cycles
• Keep management informed of the status of assigned custom engineering
projects
Required skills and experience:
• Degree level education, preferably in a technology field
• Minimum 2 years of project management experience in a technology company.
Project management experience on custom engineering projects preferred
• Minimum 5 years experience in a technology company
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
• Knowledge of Linux and the wider Open Source Software community
• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to be productive in a globally distributed team through
self-discipline and self-motivation, delivering according to a schedule

Business Development Manager
Reports to: General Manager for MIDs
Job Location: Lexington, MA; USA strongly preferred (extraordinary
applicants not located in the Lexington area but with reliable broadband
will also be considered).
Job Summary: We are seeking an organized, highly capable technical and
business-minded individual to join the MID business unit. The MID business
unit delivers customized versions of Ubuntu to commercial partners such as
OEMs. ODMs, and operators.
The primary task of the Business Development Manager is identifying and
securing new business opportunities for the Mobile Business unit.
The successful candidate will have a proven successful track record of over
achievement, proven ability to learn quickly on the job, ability to manage
multiple projects simultaneously and move easily between them.
The Business Development Manager will own and be responsible for all phases
of account relationships including, but not limited to:
• Identifying opportunities
• Proposal generation and presentation
• Negotiating contracts with support from Canonical management
• Resolve overall account issues that may arise
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
• Account Management for designated Canonical offerings of accounts in the
identified territory
• Play an active external role by supporting the company at industry events
• Understanding the overall market and competitors
• Feedback market requirements and trends to the internal teams
Required skills and experience:
• Degree level in Business, Economics or Marketing
• History of exceeding sales and business goals
• 5 years relevant industry experience required; 8+ years preferred
• Significant domestic and international travel as required to meet the
goals of the business
• Fully proficient in office automation tools
• Excellent presentation skills with the ability to adapt presentations to
different target audiences
• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
• The ability to plan, schedule and prioritize your own workload is
essential
• Ability to be productive in a globally distributed team
• Knowledge of Linux and the wider Open Source Software world
• A superior desire to be an essential part of a successful organization
