Hi:

I've been a fan of Ubuntu since the first version of it. Lately I'm
learning how to buy on Ebay, making use of PayPal, and learning how to
sell. I'm running into a problem, with Security Certificates. On some
transactions, Firefox interjects with an error saying that the Security
Certificate could not be authenticated. Usually when this happens
Firefox will then stop the process of the transaction, or make it appear
as though the transaction stopped. Both E-bay and PayPal offered work a
rounds saying I should delete my Cookies, and turn off my Pop-up blocker
and a few other things, which made no difference at all. Doing this
seems to say that the problem is on My Computer, when the Certificate
originates from somewhere on the WEB.

A day or two ago on Yahoo, I saw something, that might be the cause of
this problem. In Debian Linux in 2006, there was a little change made,
that had an outcome, which crippled the SSL, giving it 16 Bit
Encryption, instead of 128 Bit Encryption. The Article went on to say
that this was not so easy to fix, because then new Keys would be needed,
and new Security Certificates would be needed. I'm not sure right now,
just how all this stuff works. I'm not even sure if the article is
Bogus.

When Monetary Devices are being made use of, such security lapses can be
the difference between making money, and loosing it all.

I moved to Linux because I had a very bad time with Windows. If this is
a Bug, can it be fixed giving SSL a higher Encryption than 16 bits, for
now and then perhaps even higher when this problem is finally fixed. I
haven't had a problem yet in loosing funds, but now that Hackers have
been alerted to it, it could soon be a BIG problem.

So here is something of a new thread, are we clinging to it by the
threads, or is this not a problem?

Alfred!
