Why? Open source is a technical term for technical people. Free software
is a more well rounded term that requires more well rounded people to
understand it. This is why RMS talks about social issues, even though he
was perfectly capable of writing GDB. Free software doctrine makes moral
claims and thus involves a theory of morality - ethics being a branch of
philosophy. Well rounded people recognize that politics and philosophies
are intimately causally connected, hence the relevance here.
