"something not normal" isn't terribly descriptive - what was it doing?

I grabbed the latest gnome-reset package and ran it through virustotal:

http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/dcd41239136573c4289cecc597cf6e32

looks like it's fine. However, that's the authenticated package coming
from the ubuntu mirrors. I'm not sure what else you were downloading
such that you got two copies. Sounds like one "copy" might have been a
drive-by download.

Are you running third-party repositories? The official ubuntu ones are
all gpg-signed and will be authenticated against the keys which shipped
with your installation.

I don't know anything about scsi scanners but a quick google turned up
this possibly helpful thread:

Good luck!

Thank you Leigh:

The virus download was a while ago, and I don't remember all the
details. I don't have all the repositories listed and so far have used
only ADD/Remove and Synaptic to download stuff. No outside Ubuntu
Mirrors were used.

Something not normal, The modem started to work, lights flashing, but I
was doing no Downloading. It was not ClamTK, updating, The Hard Drive
light was coming on, but I was not accessing the Hard Drive, suspected
something was not right, from then on. Locked the Ports in Firestarter.
Did the virus test.

I'll play with the Scanner stuff in the next week, see if I can get it
working. Your Link was very detailed.

Alfred!
