problems with video clips. (ray house)

Have you tried watching the Youtube videos using Totem (Ubuntu's default 
  video player)? If you get them going there at least you will know that 
the problem is linked somehow to Firefox and not to something else, I 
believe.

* Launch Totem: Applications->Sound & Video->Movie Player

* At the top right of Totem's window there is a selection box where 
YouTube should be available (if not, enable the YouTube browser using 
Edit->Plugin in the Totem top menu).

* Search some video and try to play it.
