There's not much on that page about firewalls though; that is what you
are trying to setup, yes?

AFAIK ubuntu now has a 'default firewall' called 'ufw' (uncomplicated
firewall).  This page has some decent instructions on 'ufw', and also
addresses the issue of 'IP Masquerading':

It also offers links to some firewall tools other than 'ufw' (I notice
that 'firehol' is not on the list; I have read good things about it
generally).
