Ubuntu 4 Business

OK folks, tell me I'm a total noob if what I suggest here is totally
unworkable.

http://moores.ca/~darryl/u4b_spec.odt

Here is a draft of a draft of a draft of the sort of thing I'm
thinking about in terms of a network spec for businesses. There is a lot
of detail missing from a lot of it, but if people think I'm on the right
track, I'll keep working on filling in the blanks. If there are parts
you think are totally wacky please tell me your comments. If anyone
wants to have a go at adding to it. that would be great too.

Some of it looks like it is meant for really large networks, but as I
said I plan to impliment it on small network. That is because I want to
make sure this thing is scalable so that when I do want a bigger
network, I can do so without having to rework everything. That takes a
little more planning.

My premise for this project is that, with the exception of a few
sessions in VM boxes, this is a totally Windows free environment. I want
the best Linux network I can offer a small business. It needs to be
easier than Windows, cheaper than windows, more scalable than Windows,
and more secure than windows. The only way I have a chance of doing that
is if I don't have any Windows :-). I want it to be flexible, but only
within set parameters that are easy to manage. Writing this spec in an
exercise in discovering what those parameters are.

My apologies if some of it is a little non-nonsensical, it is so
incomplete and I've been writing for a while and I need to get away
from it, but I really want some feedback (good or bad)

Along with writing the spec I am putting together numerous scripts to
implement it on a clean Ubuntu install. Many based on the tutorials on
the Ubuntu site.

Writing this document (far far from complete), writing the scripts to
implement it, putting together necessary business documentation, and
learning the whole time ('cause much of what I am trying to implement is
completely new to me); is why I'm figuring I have 4 months of work ahead
of me.

Comments from you real linux pros will now be humbly accepted.

cheers,
darryl
